Black Friday partnership with The Drinks Trust

Before we started The Copper Crew neither Theo nor Oli had experience of the drinks industry. We knew that canned wine was a product we believed in, but knew nothing about the industry into which we would venture.

Fortunately for us, we found an industry of people willing to help and support us. This was true of everyone we came across, regardless of role, company, time-pressures or scepticism about our venture. From Theo being put through his paces by Tom Gosnell (Gosnells Mead) to Oli’s friendship with Simon Morrice (Urban Shed), the first few months of The Copper Crew were a steep learning curve, but we were helped, guided, mentored and supported every step of the way. Even a pint in a pub was valuable as staff explained their wine offering and thoughts on cans, pricing and customers. Without a doubt, The Copper Crew would not be where it is today without these people.

It goes without saying that 2020 has been an extraordinarily difficult year for the drinks industry and those working within it. Closures and redundancies are regular news stories and will likely remain in the headlines for as long as restrictions are in place.

Black Friday / Cyber Monday is a chance for The Copper Crew to give back to the industry and people that offered so much support to us. So, until midnight on Monday (30th November) 20% of all money spent on The Copper Crew website will be donated to The Drinks Trust.

The Drinks Trust assists people who have lost their income as a result of COVID-19 and supports businesses bringing employees back from furlough. The Trust also helps individuals suffering with their general wellbeing and mental health as a result of COVID-19. In its own words:

“The Drinks Trust is the drinks industry community organisation. Since 1886, The Drinks Trust has provided care and support to the people who form the drinks industry workforce, both past and present. Today we provide vocational, practical, emotional and financial support to those who are currently working, or have worked, in the UK drinks industry. The Drinks Trust is run by drinks industry professionals, funded by drinks industry partners and supported by thousands of drinks industry fundraisers, volunteers and contributors.”

We are delighted to be in a position to lend our support to the industry. Even as we receive positive news about a possible return to normality, the drinks and hospitality sector is likely to be restricted until late in 2021. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic will be felt for years beyond this. Please, help us to give back to the industry that all of us owe so much. We all want to make sure our favourite pub is still there for a pint, when it is safe!
