The Copper Crew scoops up medals at the 2024 London Wine Competition!
Yep that’s right, The Copper Crew wines are officially award-winning wines. The Fiano, Rosato and Negroamaro were all awarded medals at the 2024 London Wine Competition, but what actually is the Competition and why is it important?
The London Wine Competition is held annually, and puts together a panel of 40 judges made up of masters of wines, expert sommeliers and wine buyers. The panel tries wines from all across the planet and in all formats, each competing to be awarded points, and hopefully a medal. The judges obviously consider the taste and quality of the wine, but also take into the account the packaging and value when assessing them. The judges deemed all three of our wines to be worthy of medals, here’s what the experts themselves thought of the wines;
Fiano: “Aromas and flavours of butterscotch and lemon. The palate is dry with soft tannins and earthy flavours. Medium finish.”
Negroamaro: “Medium ruby colour. Jammy flavours of strawberry compote with currant jam, juniper & nutmeg on the palate. Medium-bodied wine with medium length.”
Rosato: “Delicate and well-balanced wine with persistent red fruit flavours on palate. The bouquet is pleasant and delicate with aromas of blackberries, strawberries, raspberry & aromatic herbs.”
It’s fair to say the judges enjoyed all our wines, awarding both the Fiano and Negroamaro enough points for bronze medals (although the Negroamaro was tantalisingly close to a silver), but the the real star of the show was our Rosato, picking up a whopping 86 points and earning itself an extremely strong silver medal! We’re delighted to see not only our wines, but canned wines in general getting the recognition they deserve in serious international wine competitions, with Canned Wine Co.’s Heritage collection also picking up silver medals. We’re super excited to see what other awards The Copper Crew wines can collect in the future.
